Robert Avila
Robert Avila, Managing Director, has advised companies on strategy and market environment issues for more than twenty years. He is an authority on market modeling, business forecasting and scenario based planning, he has worked with companies to identify opportunities in troubled markets, evaluate growth opportunities and to prepare for competitive challenges. He is currently an Associate with The Futures Strategy Group, leaders in using alternative futures and scenario planning to help business and government executives excel in complex and rapidly changing environments.
Prior to founding FutureCrunch Mr. Avila worked at a number of major consulting firms including Deloitte, PwC and Coopers & Lybrand where he was the chief economist for the firms strategy practice and director of Economics & Policy Analysis. He has also worked as chief economist at The Futures Group doing scenario based strategy development for Fortune 100 companies and at SAGE Associates doing public policy analysis.
Mr. Avila also has wide press and public experience: quoted in Business Week, Fortune, Forbes, American Demographics, Forecast, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, has spoken before major trade associations, EIU conferences, World Future Society, Planning Forum; has been a guest commentator on CBS Evening News and the MacNeil/Lehrer Report. Served as Adjunct Professor of strategic Planning at Denver University’s Public Policy Institute
Tereza Nemessanyi
Tereza Nemessanyi, Director, is a seasoned strategy consultant with U.S. and international experience defining and developing business growth opportunities, and teaming with clients to bring them to fruition. She brings together a rigorous consumer focus, competitive analytics, operational understanding and creativity to create a clear, compelling roadmap for the future. Passionate about building businesses, she possesses excellent interpersonal and team skills to drive adoption and expansion of value-creating strategies. In addition to FutureCrunch, Ms. Nemessanyi is a Managing Partner at High Ridge Group where she develops business, marketing and growth strategies for new media/web 2.0 digital startups and Corporate clients.
Prior to joining FutureCrunch, Ms. Nemessanyi was Director of Strategic Planning for the United States at PwC, reporting to the CFO and a Principal Consultant in the Strategic Change Practice, covering Media and Entertainment, Consumer Packaged Goods and Professional Services sectors. While at PwC, she strategically repositioned their Middle Market practice, the nation’s largest and architected its operating plan and go-to-market tactics, which have generated and sustained 20% growth annually for five years.
Ms. Nemessanyi has launched venture capital-backed media businesses. In the early 1990’s, she was a ground-floor employee of CME, backed by the Lauder Family. There, she was part of the core team to launch its flagship Czech television station, Nova TV. Nova TV was the first commercial national television network in post-Communist Europe and remains the most successful station launch of all time. She has also worked at the Walt Disney Company as a senior financial analyst.
Ms. Nemessanyi has an MBA from The Wharton School, an MA in International Studies from Wharton’s Lauder Institute, and a BA from University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School of Communication.
Gerry Caffrey
Gerry Caffrey, Director of Research, is a market and competitor analyst with fifteen years experience supporting corporate strategic initiatives for a wide variety of media, telecommunications, computing and banking industry clients. His expertise is conducting primary and secondary research and analysis on emerging and developed markets, industries and competitors.
Prior to becoming an independent analyst, he was a consultant with Coopers & Lybrand’s and PwC’s Strategic Change consulting practices for seven years, utilized primarily for his research expertise. He was also IBM’s Global Telecommunications Industry Market Intelligence Analyst for three years, responsible for providing both market and competitor analysis for the highest telecom executives in the Services and Sales & Distribution divisions. He was a frequent member of IBM’s corporate HQ-level due-diligence teams, engaged to support strategic telecom industry initiatives, including major acquisitions, divestitures, and new product development.
While at IBM, he was asked to join Thinkfire Services USA, Ltd, an intellectual property consulting and patent brokering firm focusing on high-tech clients, as a Senior Market Analyst. At Thinkfire he worked with clients to assert, license or determine market value for their patents by creating market sizing and royalty payout models for diverse technology products such as online mapping, consumer GPS, digital rights management software, semiconductors, computing and telecommunications hardware and software.
